Micro Maker Series: Making with the Material and the Ethereal

June 2, 2021 @ 2:40 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

Part of the Crafting Change Symposium hosted by the Center for Convergence at Oberlin College and Conservatory, the Micro Maker Series is a fully virtual lecture series featuring artists, designers, and educators from around the world.  Presenters use traditional handicraft and contemporary technologies to create bespoke wearables and interfaces for performance, improvisation, installation, and education.

Jie Qi’s talk will weave through her personal and professional journey in blending her artistic play– smashing together craft with technology–with research, entrepreneurship, law and spirituality. She will share some of the surprising places it has taken her and some of the lessons she’s learned along the way about impact, impermanence, and sustainability.
