We are excited to welcome Eli Stine as TIMARA’s newest tenure-track faculty member. Eli brings an exceptional blend of artistic and industry experience and is a 2014 Oberlin alum!
Prior to joining Oberlin, Eli worked as a software engineer at Meta’s Reality Labs-Research Audio division, contributing to spatial audio projects for WhatsApp calls, Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, and the Acoustic Ray Tracing system used in Meta XR. This experience gave him deep knowledge of acoustic simulation and spatialization algorithms and the processes of software engineering within a team.
Throughout his career, Eli has remained active as an artist and researcher. Recent work has included an audio-visual installation MUT-AT1-0NS that was exhibited at Helsinki’s Museum of Technology and sound design for VRWandlung, which toured internationally across Milan, Berlin, Brussels, Toronto, and Kyoto. He has also presented work at the University of Chicago’s CHIMEFest, New Music On The Point, and recently performed multi-channel music with Natasha Barrett in Oslo.

Eli’s education and training started at Oberlin College with a dual degree in Computer Science and TIMARA. He then went on to earn a PhD and MA in Composition and Computer Technologies from the University of Virginia. This unique background bridging cutting-edge technology with artistic innovation makes him an ideal addition to TIMARA.
Please join us in welcoming Eli!
